Charlotte Water (CLTW) is recognized as the largest water/wastewater provider in the Carolinas with 4,474 miles of water and 4,467 miles of sewer pipe, nearly 114,000 manholes and approximately 265,000 residential and business connections. Preventing sanitary sewer overflows (SSO) is a major consideration for the environment, public health and adherence to North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality standards. Through Charlotte’s “whole system” strategy, the home to NASCAR’s Hall of Fame has seen a 64% decrease in the number of annual SSOs.
