Remote Monitoring For Large Areas: Camp Pendleton
BACKGROUND
Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps, located on the Southern California coast, in San Diego County.
Camp Pendleton maintains over 237 miles of widely dispersed infrastructure including gravity mains, force mains, laterals—ranging from four inches in diameter to 36 inches in diameter—62 lift stations, and 3,140 manholes.
The water system includes 24 wells, 375 miles of water mainlines, and 23 reservoirs.
SUMMARY
As is the case with most large military bases across the United States, Camp Pendleton Marine Base needs to independently manage water and sewer infrastructure across a very large area, while juggling security concerns, difficult-to-access locations, and sensitive environmental concerns.
